Two Focused Products. Greater Impact. Why We Are Splitting RibiRewards and RibiPeople
We're splitting RibiRewards into two focused products — RibiRewards for incentives and rewards, RibiPeople for employee experience — built on the same infrastructure. Here's why, and what changes.

Two Focused Products. Greater Impact.
Why we are splitting RibiRewards into two focused products — RibiRewards for incentives and rewards, and RibiPeople for employee experience — and what changes, and stays the same, for everyone who works with us.
We are splitting RibiRewards into two focused products: RibiRewards for incentives and rewards across Africa, and RibiPeople for employee experience across Africa.
RibiRewards powers incentives. RibiPeople powers employee experience. Same team, same infrastructure, same commitment to the markets we serve. Two clearer front doors.
This is not a rebrand for the sake of it. It is a response to what our customers have been telling us, in their own words, every time they arrive on our website, book a demo or send us a brief. Here is why we are doing it, what changes, and what stays exactly the same.
One brand, two very different buyers
We started RibiRewards with a simple belief: rewarding people across Africa should be as easy as it is anywhere else in the world. That belief has not changed. What changed is who kept showing up.
On one side, we had commercial leaders. Heads of sales running field-rep incentives. Channel managers rewarding distributors and retailers. Marketing teams running customer rewards, gift-with-purchase campaigns and activations. Product teams wanting a rewards API they could plug into their own apps.
On the other side, we had HR and people teams. They wanted recognition programmes, employee benefits, allowances, perks and a way to make every employee feel valued, whether they sit in Johannesburg, Lagos or a remote mine site.
Both groups were using the same underlying platform. But they were asking completely different questions:
- A sales director asks: will this move the numbers, and can I track the return?
- An HR manager asks: will my people feel appreciated, and will it work for everyone on payroll?
When one website tries to answer both questions at once, it answers neither of them well. HR buyers were landing on pages about channel incentives and API docs. Commercial buyers were wading through recognition and wellbeing content. Everyone had to work harder than they should to find what they came for.
RibiRewards.com: incentives and rewards across Africa
RibiRewards is now fully focused on rewards that drive commercial outcomes. If you are rewarding someone to change a behaviour, hit a target or say yes, this is your home:
- Sales incentives for field teams, merchandisers and sales reps
- Channel rewards for distributors, retailers and trade partners
- Customer rewards for loyalty, referrals and thank-you moments
- Campaign rewards for activations, gift-with-purchase, surveys and events
- Reward infrastructure and API for platforms that want to offer African rewards inside their own products
The buyer here is commercial: sales, marketing, channel, research, product and platform teams. The language is performance, participation and return on spend. So that is how RibiRewards will now speak, from our website to our proposals to our reporting.
RibiPeople.com: employee experience across Africa
RibiPeople is built for the people who look after people. It brings together everything HR teams need to make employees feel valued across African workforces:
- Employee benefits that work locally, not just at head office
- Recognition for milestones, great work and the moments that matter
- Allowances for meals, transport, data and wellness
- Perks employees actually use in their own city
- Employee rewards for festive seasons, long service and team celebrations
The buyer here is HR, people operations, total rewards and internal communications. The questions are about inclusion, fairness across locations, ease for payroll and how employees feel. RibiPeople gives those buyers a home that speaks their language from the first click.
For a multinational with teams in five African countries, the challenge is rarely whether to recognise people. It is how to do it fairly when a voucher that works in Nairobi means nothing in Luanda. That is the problem RibiPeople exists to solve.
Two products, one infrastructure underneath
The split is about focus at the front. Underneath, nothing is being divided.
Both products run on the same African rewards infrastructure we have spent years building: local gift cards and vouchers, multi-country catalogues, experiences, local fulfilment networks, payouts, reconciliation and reporting. The same people build it and the same operations teams deliver it on the ground.
That shared foundation is the whole point. The hardest part of rewarding people across Africa has never been the website. It is getting the right reward, in the right currency, to the right person, in the right city, reliably. That capability now powers two products instead of one, and each product can improve faster because it only has to serve one type of buyer.
Think of it as one engine with two dashboards. A sales director and an HR director should not have to share a steering wheel.

Focus is how we serve Africa better
Africa is not one market, and rewarding people here is not one problem. It is dozens of currencies, hundreds of cities and very different reasons for saying thank you. Serving that well takes focus.
With RibiRewards and RibiPeople, every buyer gets a product built around their goals, and every product gets a team that can go deeper for them. That is how we plan to keep building the rewards infrastructure Africa deserves.
